Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Fizzdoc does the work inside your browser tab, using open-source engines compiled to WebAssembly and JavaScript. Your file is read from your device, processed locally, and the result is saved straight back to your device. You can check this yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab, and run a job — no request carries your file.
Will my picture lose quality?
No. The cut-out keeps your photo’s full resolution, with no size cap from Fizzdoc. Hair and fur edges are cleaned up at full size, so they look natural on any new background. You can also save a smaller copy.
How does it work without uploading?
An open-source AI model (BiRefNet) runs inside your browser, on your graphics chip when the device has one. It downloads once, about 110 MB, and then works even offline. Phones with little memory use a smaller model (U²-Net).
Is there a watermark or a limit?
No watermark, no credits, no sign-up and no daily limit. The result is saved at your photo’s own resolution; only your device’s memory limits how big a photo can be.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in any modern phone browser. Phones use a smaller model (4.6 MB) so the tab doesn’t run out of memory, so edges on hair are a little softer than on a laptop.
How do I make the background white?
Once the background is removed, pick White under Background, then save as JPG or PNG. You can also pick any colour, a blur of the original background, or another photo of yours.
Can I remove the background from a GIF or a video?
Yes. Remove GIF Background keeps every frame and its timing, and Remove Video Background keeps the sound. Both run on your device too.
Is Fizzdoc free?
